25/04/2015 - Football Predictions

1-1

The return of Mauricio Pochettino to St.Mary's will certainly excite the home crowd, but I fear we will be in for a very lacklustre game. Having seen Southampton labour to 3 wins in their last 9 league matches, and Spurs to 4 wins in their last 12 games, this game promises very little in terms of excitement, even with both teams striving to pip Liverpool to 5th. One of the best defences in the laegue comes up against one of the best goalscorers in the league, as 15 clean sheet Southampton will look to cancel out Harry Kane, and I don't think the young Englishman will prevail. I'm going for 1 goal each, a Christian Eriksen free kick saving a point for Pochettino's men.

0-2

Leicester have won all three matches so far in April, and will look to continue their good form against a struggling Burnley, who have mustered just one goal in their last 7 league matches. Leicester however have scored 10 goals in their last 4 games, and this remarkable turn of form should carry them through this battle at the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zone. Burnley do stand a chance of breaking their scoring duck against one of the weaker defences in the league, but main striker Danny Ings hasn't netted in 13 hours and 14 minutes of competitive football, and unless he finds his scoring boots I don't think Burnley have much of a chance, even at home.

2-0

Palace's poor home record this season may make some fans nervous, but a misfiring Hull City with just 2 goals in 2015 will seriously struggle against Pardew's Palace. To give the fans at Selhurst Park even more hope, Hull have only won 2 away games in the league this season. This should be a regulation victory for Crystal Palace and another disappointing loss for The Tigers.

2-2

Newcastle will be desperate to avoid a seventh straight loss, and I think they can just about do it in what will be a very nervy game against The Swans. Whilst they have been the worst Premier League team in 2015, I expect Newcastle to scrape a point here against Garry Monk's side, who have won just 2 of their last 6 league matches.

2-1

The Hammers are sliding and are without a win in their last 9 league away games, and Charlie Austin will look to take advantage of Allardyce's demoralised men and secure a victory for the Rangers with at least a goal, maybe an assist as well.

2-0

Sunderland have been just as bad as their North Eastern friends Newcastle in 2015, and won't be able to topple Stoke at the Brittania. Hughes is leading Stoke to a record-breaking points tally and they will move even closer with a convincing victory against the Black Cats,

1-2

I'm backing the Reds to secure a difficult victory against a West Brom side that secured a much needed victory last weekend against Palace. Liverpool need to bounce back and will do so in Steven Gerrard's 500th Premier League appearance for the club. Liverpool will need to be wary of Berahino who is a goal scoring machine at home, but I think they will have enough to overcome the Baggies.

2-0

City will continue their good home form, having scored 12 unanswered goals, but will need to lock Benteke down in order to do so. A good win for the Villains may give them hope, but City will set their year back on track after a disappointing start to 2015 with a comfortable victory here.
