3 Players That Eddie Jones Needs To Drop

It is highly unlikely that Eddie Jones will make 2 of these 3 changes, let alone all of them given his tendency to tinker lightly from week to week, but we feel these 3 changes would only improve England in the short and long term.

1. Dan Cole's poor discipline has cost him his spot.

It wasn't that long ago that England fans were hailing Dan Cole as one of the best tightheads in the game, but recently he hasn't looked at all like that, in fact, in a team plagued by ill-discipline, Dan Cole is simply a liability. He once again received a yellow card at the weekend, allowing Wales to mount a heart-attack inducing comeback and he nearly cost England the game as he conceded 6 penalties by himself for a grand total of 12 penalties in 4 games so far this 6 Nations. With Kieran Brookes waiting in the wings, it will be hard for Jones to include Dan once again after nearly costing England such a high-pressure game.

2. Tuilagi in, Ford out.

I by no means think this should be permanent, but George Ford has been so, so lucky to consistently get games this 6 Nations as he puts in poor performance after poor performance, imitating his club form at international level. Until he gets his mojo back, he has to be dropped, especially with the return of Manu Tuilagi. Jones must be contemplating getting him back into the England starting team and moving Farrell to fly-half. We think it would be for the best, he clearly isn't thinking straight, as evidenced by his awful decision to kick it when Dan Biggar was on top of him, albeit after a poor pass from Youngs. Sorry George, but until you get back to your best you shouldn't be starting for England.

3. Haskell's time is up I'm afraid.

Again, another player that can't escape poor discipline and that Eddie Jones needs to leave in England's past. He does some good things, don't get me wrong, and I love the guy, but it's time to start an out-and-out 7 for England, something we've been calling for for a long time. His physical presence is undeniable, and he does a lot of heavy hitting and hard work, but now we need to see more of the likes of Jack Clifford, and see how he can fare starting. Maro has done alright (understatement of the year), how about we give this new generation of players a go?

Bonus: It appears that through pure idiocy, whether that comes through his casual racism or stupid hit with the arm, that Joe Marler will be missing out on Saturday, and Jones will have to think about whether to introduce Mako Vunipola or Matt Mullan into the fray. I believe Mako is the better option for now and we bring Mullan onto the bench.

  1. Cole I think is still the best 3 in the squad. To me as a former front row player Brookes just hasn't quit got it so I'd bring back Hill on the bench.

Farrel to 10 with Tuilagi at 12 would strengthen the mid field and Farrel is kicking already.

I'd also give Clifford a start, he'd have to experienced players with him at 6 & 8, Haskell dropping to bench.

  2. Two out of three 'aint bad. However keep Dan Cole. Still best tight head we've got. Took the last card for the team. Totally agree with the other two suggestions. Haskell simply isn't good enough, not sure he ever was but definitely not anymore.
